Dear Horizon Christian School Families,
Our plan was to reopen our campuses in the fall for on-campus learning, five days a week. Based on governor Brown's latest guidelines, we will begin the year with distance learning until the county and state criteria are achieved.
I am looking forward to seeing our staff and students reunited together again. The process to meet the new requirements for opening this fall has been the primary focus of our administrators and staff. We are working every day to make sure the experience is one that prioritizes the safety and well-being of all parties while restoring the personal connection between teachers, coaches, administrators, parents, and students.
We recognize the value of students in the classroom for not only their academic needs but also for their social-emotional needs. We want your kids on campus! We love your children! We are eager to hold the most normal school experience for them because we know they need emotional and social support of our staff and interaction with their peers. To that end we have been working with various experts to plan for on-campus reopening as soon as possible.
Experts from the Washington County Health Department, our school Site Council, School Advisory Team, medical professionals, a reopening task force, and a survey of our K-8 families have been key resources to navigate the state mandated reopening plan, Ready Schools Safe Learners. These groups were charged with considering multiple options based on the mandated restrictions by the governor and the Ready Schools Safe Learners reopening operation blueprint.
We are learning that the reopening of our campuses is not an event, but rather a process with ever-changing parts. Updated information will be ongoing throughout the summer and published on our website in our Reopening Portal. Please pray for guidance and wisdom as we prepare for reopening and that the actions we institute will provide students and staff the best and safest conditions for learning.
Thank you for your trust and the opportunity to serve your family. As we unite during this time the strength of our Horizon Christian School community has been a great encouragement for us. Finally, I remain confident that our God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above what we ask (Ephesians 3:20). I believe our Lord is with us and will provide for our needs as we navigate these unusual times.
