Coach Murrell brings a strong passion for mentorship and team culture to Horizon athletics, inspired by his own high school coach who shaped both his love for sports and his faith. A Horizon alum, he is grateful for the opportunity to invest in student-athletes at the same school that helped shape him.
He has coached across multiple levels and programs, including middle school and high school girls basketball, JV baseball, football, esports, and now serves as Head Flag Football Coach. A multi-sport athlete himself, he competed in football, basketball, and baseball in high school and continued playing club flag football at Grand Canyon University.
Coach Murrell is passionate about developing leaders who put others first and compete with unity and purpose. His philosophy centers on playing as “one heart,” encouraging athletes to grow in teamwork, character, and a Christ-like mindset both on and off the field.
