High School Football is Back!
A Full-Circle Spring at Horizon Christian School

Each spring, Horizon Christian School experiences a full-circle moment. We welcome our new kindergarten families for the upcoming year while also celebrating the outstanding accomplishments of our graduating seniors for the current year. Both events are essential for preparing our new kindergarten families and honoring our twelfth graders during our commencement service.
In late April or early May, we invite all incoming kindergarten students to spend time in their future classrooms with the teachers who will guide them through their first year. We call this event “Kindergarten Round-up.” During this event, the students engage in fun activities that model what a day in the life of a kindergarten student will look like. It is so much fun to see the excitement and wonder in their eyes as they meet their new teachers and classmates.
Round-Up also helps our teachers observe how students interact, providing valuable insights as they thoughtfully build class rosters for the upcoming year. Before heading home, each child receives a summer activity booklet filled with enjoyable, skill-building exercises to ensure they feel confident and prepared for their first day in the fall. Meanwhile, parents begin forming meaningful connections with one another, laying the foundation for a vibrant and supportive school community.
A few weeks later, it’s all about the seniors and their families. Each graduation is special, as every student who crosses the stage has experienced a unique journey. Our school has helped shape them into the educated and mature individuals they are. It is our prayer that each one has a growing and deepened faith in Jesus Christ, partly due to the influence of Horizon Christian School.
Graduation day begins with a special tradition called Senior Tribute. In this intimate gathering of classmates and parents, we honor and celebrate the many accomplishments of our graduates. One of the most memorable moments is the presentation of the Hawks Heritage Award. This award is given to each student who has maintained continuous enrollment from kindergarten through 12th grade. These students receive a plaque and a unique cord to wear at the graduation ceremony.
Witnessing Kindergarten Round-Up and Graduation within the same season is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. From the excitement of a kindergartener’s first day to the shaking of each graduate’s hand as they cross the stage, we are honored to partner with families on this incredible journey.
