Horizon Christian School Parents 

We believe that positive relationships developed between students, parents, and staff provide the foundation upon which our students can thrive. To that end we have provided parents and students with all the necessary resources and links needed to assist you in partnering with us in the education of your child.

FACTS Family Online Portal

FACTS Family Online Portal by FACTS Management Software gives busy parents an opportunity to get more involved in their child's academic progress and future success - all via the Internet!  FACTS Family Online is a private and secure parents' portal that will allow parents to view academic information specific to their children, while protecting their children's information from others.  Parents may view their student's grades, attendance, homework, missing assignments, school calendar, announcements, and an online family directory.  They can also communicate with teachers and other school staff online.

FACTS Tuition Payment Plans allow families to select from two payment options that best suit your financial needs, and are required for the enrollment process. All payments must be concluded by June 30th of the year the student is enrolled and payment methods offered include: Automatic Payments from Checking/Savings Account or Credit Card.

FACTS Variable Tuition Assessment (Grant & Aid) is a service that allows families to apply for Variable Tuition through a secure, financial evaluation process with FACTS. There is a $30 fee (only ONE per family) for this service to be paid at the end of the process through Automatic Payment from Checking/Savings Account or Credit Card. After completing the assessment, and paying the fee, it may take up to two weeks for FACTS to process the data. You will be notified by Horizon Christian School with the recommendation from FACTS for any eligible tuition reduction.

 


Parent Partnership/Volunteering

Our Parent Partnership Agreement is our volunteer program designed to provide parental help on each school campus in the classroom, athletics, activities, and events. This helps us keep tuition increases to a minimum while continuing to provide students with a quality education. There are two options for fulfilling your Parent Partnership Agreement:

Option #1: Volunteer
This option requires each family to work a minimum of 30 hours during the current school year, beginning in September through the following April. In order to be approved as a volunteer or a parent driver, each person must complete our New Volunteer Form or our Returning Volunteer Form. These forms must be filled out at least 2 weeks prior to volunteering for an event. They are available on our website at http://horizonchristian.school/resources/forms.cfm, select school, select your needed form under the Annual Required Forms section.

Option #2: Pay
This option indicates your preference to pay the $350 family work fee instead of 30 hours of volunteer time during the school year.  This fee will be added to your October incidental fees through FACTS.

Please contact your student’s homeroom teacher or the main office regarding your desire to help support one of the listed volunteer opportunities below. Remember, you must be an approved volunteer to chaperone and/or be a driver at a school event. Make sure your volunteer paperwork has been filled out for the year.

We use “Help Counter” to log in and keep track of volunteer hours for you. Please go to HelpCounter to log your time, update your personal information or add areas of interest.  

How to enter volunteer hours into HelpCounter:
Volunteering on campus during school hours:
1. Using the HelpCounter computer at the school office, click on your name
2. Click on the activity or classroom you are volunteering with
3. Wear the volunteer badge that is printed
4. Sign-out before leaving campus

Volunteering off campus or after school hours:
1. On the Horizon Christian School website, hover on the Resources menu option and click on the Parents page, and you will see on the right-hand side under Helpful Resources the HelpCounter link.  Feel free to bookmark this link to your preferred browser for easy access.
2. Login with your username and password. You will be prompted to create a user name if you haven’t already done so.
3. Enter the date, activity and hours you volunteered.
4. We ask that you log your volunteer hours within a month’s time of the activity.

Each family will be responsible for logging in hours worked using the HelpCounter system.  Hours not completed and entered into HelpCounter by April 30 will be pro-rated based on the option #2 amount of $350 and the amount will appear on your May statement.

Moms In Prayer is a group of caring and dedicated moms and grandmas who meet regularly during the school year to pray for our children, our school, and our amazing staff and faculty. This vital ministry truly makes a difference to our school community and is so appreciated. An added benefit of our Moms in Prayer is that many of these women enjoy the blessings of building friendships with each other while praying together. "Pour your hearts out like water before the face of the Lord, lift up your hands toward Him for the lives of your children." Lamentations 2:19

Elementary/Middle School moms meet every other Monday morning (2nd and 4th Monday of the month) at 8:30 am in the staff room at the Sagert campus.

High School moms meet on Tuesday mornings at 8:00 am in room 122 at the Boones Ferry campus.

 

ELEMENTARY & MIDDLE SCHOOL
STAFF APPRECIATION LUNCH
Once a month a group of parents from the Elementary and Middle School hosts an appreciation lunch for all staff. This is such a blessing to our faculty and staff and a great way to earn volunteer hours. If you would like to be a part of providing monthly lunches, please contact the school office at 503-692-9312.

HIGH SCHOOL
PEST (Parents Encouraging Staff and Teachers) is a parent-run program designed to bless the high school staff at Horizon. Families "Adopt" a staff member or teacher, then provide little blessings throughout the school year. These can range from little treats, gifts, notes of encouragement, a favorite coffee drink delivered, or where ever your imagination might take you. The PEST program is such a blessing to our staff and teachers and is so appreciated.
